We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee and manage the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. The role involves reviewing journal entries and balance reconciliations, performing variance analysis, and supporting audit requests. Additionally, this position requires managing a team of six employees and assisting with ongoing projects.
Responsibilities
Review journal entries and balance reconciliations as needed.
Perform variance analysis and review monthly balance sheet and profit & loss explanations as part of the close process.
Support the team with any audit or miscellaneous requests, such as running queries.
Assist and support teams with any questions or help they may need.
Manage the month-end close process, including communicating deadlines to finance and accounting, reviewing journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations, and providing variance analysis.
Ensure all aspects of the monthly close process are completed on a timely basis.
Review and validate consolidated financial statements.
Review financial reporting packages and monthly results to analyze variances and trends, and provide explanations to management for related movements.
Evaluate and review key policies, procedures, and internal controls, and assist in all related testing for the Internal Control Assessment under Sarbanes-Oxley.
Ensure controls are complete and accurate; risks and key controls are properly identified.
Responsible for all internal and external audit requirements and deliverables related to Operations Accounting.
Understand operational systems and assist in the continual development and improvement of the recording of entries within the systems, including periodic reviews of current practices to identify potential deficiencies.
Manage, train, and develop a team of six employees.
Attend monthly close meetings and be prepared to answer questions about financial statements, provide commentary, variance explanations, and ad hoc reports and analysis as needed.
Essential Skills
8-10 years of full-cycle accounting experience.
Experience managing a team of three or more resources.
Strong understanding and application of US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Strong communication (verbal and written) and leadership skills.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
Attention to detail.
Ability to multi-task and work extra hours during month-end close and as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
Master’s/MBA degree is a plus.
CPA preferred but not required.
Preferred degree in Accounting, Finance, or General Business.
5-7 years of accounting experience.
Combined experience in public accounting and the private sector is a plus.
Experience in the cruise industry is a plus.
Experience with PeopleSoft software or large company ERP systems is a plus.
Work Environment
The position involves working in a dynamic and fast-paced office environment. You will work with various technologies and equipment, including PeopleSoft Financials and Microsoft Excel. The role may require working extra hours during the month-end close process and as needed to meet deadlines. Collaboration and communication with different teams are essential aspects of this role.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $50.00/hr.
