The Center for Instruction, Technology & Innovation is the Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) for Oswego County, NY. The CiTi Public Relations Department is a nationally award-winning team of creative storytellers who work to promote and publicize student learning. The department is comprised of three teams with home bases in Phoenix, Cato and Ithaca serving districts in the following Counties: Cayuga, Onondaga, Cortland, Madison, Oswego, Tompkins, Seneca, and Tioga. CiTi PR is currently seeking a Public Information Assistant who will grow to act as a primary contact for one or two school districts implementing a strategic communications plan and helping to build the school’s brand. Tactics you may use to implement school PR strategy are:

  • Messaging, including crisis communications

  • Social media management

  • Photography of events

  • Story writing/press releases/publications

  • Videography

  • Website content management

You can make a difference in education with the support of 20 school public relations colleagues in the department and your closest team, a small group consisting of public relations specialists and graphic design specialists led by an assistant public relations coordinator. The three teams of the department are overseen by the public relations coordinator. You will collaborate with the creative professionals in your team, and the larger team, to support student learning. We may not be teaching students in a classroom, but we are helping students read.

Job Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or related field, OR a bachelor’s degree with one year experience, OR an associate’s degree with three years’ experience OR a high school diploma with six years’ experience. (If you do not meet these qualifications, inquire about our Public Relations Specialist Trainee position).
