Job/Position DescriptionLicensed Vocational Nurse TraineeAn employee in the Nurse Stipend Position is expected to attend an accredited licensed vocational nursing (LVN) program as scheduled, meet all requirements to graduate as a Graduate Vocational Nurse (GVN), and complete the LVN board of the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) examiners. Upon completion, the employee in the Nurse Stipend Position must fulfill the Academic Stipend Agreement by working 2 months as a LVN employee for each month in LVN trainee program.Essential Job FunctionsPassing grade as defined by the traineeand#146;s vocational nursing program classes and clinicals.Provide semester schedule and monthly attendance reports to the State Supported Living Center CNE or designee.Attend scheduled check-ins with the CNE or designee at least once per semester. Attend any unscheduled meetings determined necessary by the CNE or designee to discuss any issues arise during the course of the training period.Comply with any directives received from the CNE or designee during the course of study.Registrations, Licensure Requirements or CertificationsNoneKnowledge Skills AbilitiesAbility to attend LVN program as scheduled.Ability to pass LVN program and graduate program at end of required courses.Ability to pass LVN board of the Texas BON examiners within 75 days of getting the authorization to test (ATT).Initial Screening CriteriaCurrently accepted into an accredited LVN program in Texas to begin within 90 days or currently enrolled in an accredited LVN program in Texas.Experience with working with people with intellectual, developmental and/or physical disabilities preferred.Additional InformationEmployee will sign an Academic Stipend Agreement and be required to successfully fulfill the agreement. Applicant selected must fulfill Academic Stipend Agreement by working 2 months as an LVN per every 1 month in LVN trainee program. All applicants must pass: pre-employment drug screen, fingerprint criminal background check, and Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Employee Misconduct Registry and Nurse Aide Registry.
