Amazon Processing Lead Technician – Electrical Test, Kuiper Launch Operations in Merritt Island, Florida

Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

The success of Kuiper depends on the quality, reliability, cost, integration, throughput, and security of the products delivered. It is a fast-paced, dynamic environment. As part of the Kuiper team, you will solve difficult problems where resolutions have high impact, and help create a brand new set of launch site processes and standards. To be successful you need to be highly motivated and detail oriented while maintaining the highest standards of execution.

The processing technician will work as a part of and lead a team through satellite arrival, offload, and electrical testing operations. The candidate’s responsibilities include forklift, pallet jack, and crane operations; work with electrical harnessing and test racks to verify satellite health upon arrival at the launch site; and provide coaching to team members related to the work zone processes. Additionally, the processing lead technician will validate test data to confirm compliance with requirements. The individual will work closely with engineering and other launch operations and satellite manufacturing teams.

The ideal candidate is comfortable in a highly technical, fast-paced, and collaborative setting; is able to follow technical work instructions; and lead a team through processing operations.

Candidates must be 18 years or older with the ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines.

A day in the life

The processing lead will meet with their engineer/leader to understand objectives for the day and will distributed work to their team. They will then go onto the operations floor to process satellites according to work instructions provided by engineering using mechanical and electrical ground support equipment. They will document completed work and report non-conformances to engineering as they occur. Periodically, they will perform maintenance on the ground and facility systems supporting satellite movements. They will be expected to cross train with all other launch operations work areas, including mechanical areas, to support work surges and travel to other launch sites.
