Amazon Equipment Mechanic - Launch Operations, Project Kuiper in Merritt Island, Florida

Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of over 3,000 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

We're looking for an excellent Facilities Operations Engineer with expert experience installing, commissioning and troubleshooting custom industrial equipment in a Payload Processing Facility environment. This position will work side by side with Engineering and Production teams to develop creative solutions and take this program from startup, though design validation, into production then maintain equipment to support operations.

Export Control Requirement:

Key job responsibilities

  • Installing Industrial equipment and machinery

  • Bring-up and Troubleshooting of equipment

  • Maintaining and preventative maintenance activities

  • Machine commissioning and trouble-shooting

  • Preventative and Breakdown Maintenance operations

  • Troubleshooting and Maintaining industrial equipment and machinery in production and development environments

  • Installation of custom equipment and commissioning

  • Direct support of production equipment

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.

  • At least 3 years working experience with installing, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintaining specialty industrial equipment, specifically high pressure gases

  • Must be willing and able to work with powered lift equipment, i.e. forklifts and aerial lifts at heights > 100’.

  • Valid Driver’s license and able to satisfy Amazon driver eligibility criteria.

  • Must be able to lift up to 49 pounds on some occasions, stand/walk for up to 8-10 hours (with breaks), and able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.

  • Able to obtain and maintain a US Passport & must meet customs entry requirements to include but not limited to: Yellow Fever vaccine and other immunization requirements as recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

  • Ability to pass Kennedy Space Center background checks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate in a related electrical or mechanical field.

  • Minimum 7 years working in a manufacturing environment troubleshooting and maintaining high pressure compressors

  • Minimum 3 years working in Clean Room environments

  • Experience installing, connecting, troubleshooting and maintaining industrial electrical systems including knowledge of NEC, NFPA 79, and UL508A

  • Electrical ability in industrial equipment troubleshooting, electrical subsystems troubleshooting, and Specialized Test Equipment troubleshooting experience

  • Experience with industrial controls equipment including pneumatics, sensors, wiring diagrams, etc.

  • Can read, interpret, and execute electrical & mechanical schematics and drawings to aide in expedite troubleshooting through repairs

  • Experience troubleshooting custom machinery including compressors, refrigeration systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, process chilled water and LN2 & GN2 systems

  • Experience maintaining a workshop in high-speed production environment

  • Ability to work across teams to develop clear and concise communications in both verbal and written forms

  • Experience with rigging and lifting operations

  • Developing and Maintaining all maintenance activities
