Position Summary The Advanced Mechanical Engineer will join a fast-paced Infection Prevention Technologies (IPT) R&D team developing new Sterilizers. You will interact with other engineering disciplines and cross functional team member during the development lifecycle phases from concept development through final release. The Advanced Mechanical Engineer position requires prior experience related to mechanical design, analysis and implementation while always keeping safety and reliability in mind. You will interact with offsite manufacturing for new product introduction and changes to existing products. You will also be involved in 3D Modeling, Design Controls documentation, Design Verification Testing and hands-on prototyping while developing new and innovative solutions for our customers. *This position is located onsite in Mentor, Ohio with the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule. Duties * Design and develop mechanical components and systems using 3D modeling software. * Analyze product specifications and requirements to determine feasibility of design and production. * Collaborate with other engineers, designers and technicians to ensure that all design aspects are aligned with the program's goals. * Participate in product verification and validation actions. * Communicate technical information to management. * Work with outside vendors to ensure components used are appropriate for use and delivered on time. * Create Drawings and bill of materials for assemblies and individual components. * Create Technical documents for testing, crating, shipping, installation etc.. * Collaborate with marketing, Q&A, manufacturing, service, supply chain, regulatory affairs, vendors and consultants. Required Experience * Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering required * 8+ years of engineering experience in product design * FEA experience (ANSYS preferred) * Experience with DFMEA * Experience designing large assemblies * Experience in Solid Modeling (Creo Preferred) * Experience with PLM systems Preferred Experience * Advanced Degree in Mechanical Engineering * Experience designing and analyzing fluid system components such as pressure vessels, fluid control valves, pressure and temperature measurement devices and fittings * Experience in medical device design and documentation * Produce testing and validation experience * Experience with sheet metal fabrication * Experience with Pneumatic or Hydraulic piping and valves * Experience designing Electromechanical capital equipment * Experience trouble shooting large equipment Skills * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals and schematics * Familiarity with design and manufacturing tools * Creativity, analytical and statistical skills * Ability to work in a lab environment * Knowledge in design of mechanical systems including testing, debug and analysis What STERIS Offers We value our employees and are committed to providing a comprehensive benefits package that supports your health, well-being and financial future.
