POSITION SUMMARY: This position assists in many facets of the manufacturing environment to improve the production process\'s efficiency, cleanliness, and effectiveness. This position requires flexibility in daily assignments as priorities shift. The Shop Helper works with numerous departments including paint, machining, and assembly/build. Tasks range from complex, precision tasks to maintaining plant cleanliness. Attention to detail, initiative, and good follow-through is required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Prepares parts to be painted including cleaning, masking, and racking/hanging. Unmasks and cleans parts after painting. Prepares parts for paint by deburring, drilling, and tapping. Assists in staging parts to maintain an organized, prioritized, and orderly department. Assists in the preparation of UNISIG machines before customer visits. Utilizes material handling equipment, including forklift and overhead crane, to move parts Performs general maintenance duties as needed. All other duties as assigned. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent 1+ years\' experience in a manufacturing environment Ability to safely operate forklift and overhead crane Excellent work ethic and the ability to work self-directed, self-motivated, and the desire to remain productive throughout the workday Flexibility - willingness to operate other equipment, perform work outside job duties when asked, and work overtime hours when required The ability to work in an organized manner in a team environment and present a respectful attitude Fit UNISIG Core Values: Driven to perform; Solve problems, don\'t create them; Strong individual who values a team; Desire to find what\'s next; Committed to detail and consistency. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Frequently lift 25 pounds unassisted. Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted. Regularly stands and moves throughout the shop for up to 8 hours. Frequently climbs, stoops, kneels, reaches and carries. Regularly utilizes depth perception, peripheral vision, and close focus.
