Eaton Corporation Lead Application Engineer in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin

Eaton’s Industrial Controls Division is currently seeking a Lead Application Engineer. This position is located at the ICD HQ location in Menomonee Falls, WI.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $91500.03 - $134200.04 a year.

What you’ll do:

The Lead Application Engineer is a member of the Drives, Soft Starters, and Enclosed Control product line team whose primary responsibility is to be an application subject matter expert and field service engineer resource. This includes providing customer technical/application/product support, especially focused on variable frequency drives (VFD’s). The role will also be responsible for helping to develop and lead training for our Field Application Engineers, represent the product line at industry conferences, as well as plan and execute engaging demos to help market our portfolio.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to be involved with front-end innovative solutions to help grow and develop assigned product lines.

  • Review customer’s specifications and applications requirements and promote appropriate product line from Eaton VFD portfolio.

  • Lead the development of standard application solutions for the PowerXL VFD platform specific to customer’s application needs.

  • Serve as a project manager during development of online training modules, creating software tools, knowledgebase documents and application notes to assist customers and sales people in the application of our VFDs.

  • Support marketing in the development of product requirements for new product development.

  • Test new product / product enhancement software prior to launch and ensure customer usability.

  • Provide Tier-3 level product technical support to our TRC (Technical Resource Center) organization.

  • Develop and train TRC (Technical Resource Center) representatives to increase performance and reduce call times.

  • Develop, coordinate and conduct internal and external training classes on VFD and various industry applications.

  • Work closely with customers and Field Service organization to understand on-site product / system issues and resolve them by working closely with R&D team.

  • Coordinate and direct the travel of yourself and team members to customer sites to participate in technical investigations.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing, sales, consulting and/or engineering

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the specified job location(s) will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of 8 years of direct experience as an application engineer, field service engineer, or solution architect

  • Minimum of 5 years of combined experience working with VFD products in a technical or commercial capacity

Skills:

  • Excellent communication, problem solving, strong time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring schematics and specifications

  • Ability to train, be certified, and work with low voltage electrical equipment as needed

  • Ability to build, manage, and maintain customer relationships

  • Promotes a positive and collaborative team environment focused on collective success

  • Ability to travel up to 25%
