Position Overview:

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory seeks a Cable Shop Team Lead in the Hardware Department within the Electronics Engineering Division (EED). The successful candidate will be responsible for the processes, operation, and work assignments related to the Cable Shop in support of cable plant installation and maintenance. The position reports to the EED Hardware Department Head.

Given the nature of this position, SLAC will require onsite work.

Your specific responsibilities include:

  • Perform team lead duties, including overseeing the work of the Cable Shop Technicians, supervising the regular installation of cable plant infrastructure and cables, the termination of cables, and ensure good workmanship.

  • Participate with engineers and scientists in planning, design, and implementation related to the installation and maintenance of the cable plant in support of projects and programs.

  • Oversee the Cable Shop work areas. This includes maintaining safe work spaces, and the management of the storage of equipment and supplies.

  • Carry out all activities, including troubleshooting and resolving routine problems, related to the installation and maintenance of the cable plant.

  • Establish, communicate, and enforce compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.

To be successful in this position you will bring:

  • Associates degree, technical school and five years relevant hands-on experience in industrial cable plant installation, facilities infrastructure or data center construction

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills for cable plant installation and maintenance.

  • Extensive experience leading a small team of technicians to accomplish project and program objectives per planned schedules.

  • In-depth experience with software applications or programs relevant for the job.

  • Ability to independently oversee and manage cable plant installation.

  • Ability to collaborate with engineering staff for the design and develop of cable plant infrastructure.

  • Demonstrated ability to review proposals, evaluate capabilities, and make recommendations.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish, communicate, and enforce compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.

  • Experience overseeing a laboratory space or unit and supervising the work of technicians and other staff associated with the group.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and train a diverse work staff.

The expected pay range for this position is $104,000 to $140,000 per annum. SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory/Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
