SUMMARY

AutoZone is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join the IT Supply Chain team, focusing on the modernization and development of the new Warehouse Management System (WMS) platform. This platform is a cornerstone of AutoZone's supply chain, ensuring efficient inventory management, streamlined operations, and seamless integration across distribution centers and stores.

The WMS platform will enhance supply chain efficiency by supporting inbound and outbound logistics, inventory tracking, and real-time data visibility across all nodes in the network. You'll need to think critically about system scalability, integration with upstream and downstream systems, database performance, and maintaining stability while processing large volumes of supply chain transactions.

Responsibilities:

• Create, test and support software applications

• Participate in design sessions with IT Architects and produce high-level and low-level designs as necessary

• Collaborate with other engineers in the team to deliver new capabilities. Coach and mentor other team members as needed

• Quickly and effectively troubleshoot problems in development and production environments

• Responsible for others’ accurate work planning and execution, accurate project time tracking

• Review code and designs from other team members

• Provide suggestions on performance improvements of existing platform

• Coordinate with product owners and business partners to gather requirements and document them as needed

• Provide production support and being active team member of on-call rotation

• Able to perform tasks with little or no technical supervision with solid problem solving, domain technical and analytical skills

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (preferred).

• 8+ years of experience developing highly scalable backend systems using Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot, with a focus on microservices architecture.

• Proven expertise in designing robust business application layers and APIs that are scalable, adaptable, and aligned with modern domain-driven design principles.

• Strong hands-on experience in developing and deploying RESTful APIs, implementing DevOps practices, and building cloud-enabled services (on-premises and in the cloud).

• Assist with software / Data design (Database Schema, Storage considerations, Data Mapping, Data Storage Efficiency, NOSQL Data Considerations, RDMS to NOSQL considerations, API design including call signature, schema, business logic, data access, resilience, logging, supportability etc.)

• Deep understanding of data structure, algorithm design and analysis, networking, data security and highly scalable systems design.

• Experience with CI/CD concepts and build pipelines such using Gitlab CI/CD, Jenkins and Maven

• Experience using Kafka, ActiveMQ or any messaging broker is a plus

• Experience designing and building cloud native applications in GCP or PCF

• Ability to be self-driven, fast learner and adapt to new technologies

• Must be a team player with great interpersonal and communication skills; time-management skills are critical

• Committed to the code quality and coaching engineers to improve quality of existing codebases

• Experience with Supply Chain or Logistics domain software development is a plus.
