The Area Business Travel Sales Manager is a fully competent individual who has high-level experience in the sales process and function. A top producer within the hotel, who has demonstrated through performance a commitment and expertise in business travel direct sales /leisure travel direct sales, airline crew business, project business, national and local accounts, and Corporate Group Sales. This is a key member of our sales team and will play a very active role in the hotel’s shifting share and total revenue management strategies.

This position is responsible for soliciting through direct sales and marketing contacts, new and existing complex accounts that have potential for business. The Area Business Travel Sales Manager also works as a team member with the group sales and events staff. This role will report directly to the Area Director of Sales & Marketing.

Responsibilities & Duties include:

  • Establish and increase transient room revenue by growing production of new and existing corporate/preferred corporate accounts and leisure (national and local) including group room revenue, including Entertainment and Travel market.

  • Actively manage Hyatt’s annual and ongoing RFP response and compelling business case management by accurately preparing and presenting business cases and Requests for Proposals.

  • Maximize sales occupancy and rates in conjunction with hotel operations to increase profits by increasing the individual business transient room sales and generating business through aggressive sales efforts that will include proactive solicitation of local corporate firms, as well as securing business from Hyatt’s National Account base.

  • Prospect new business using a wide variety of sales methods, including but not limited to phone calls, outside sales calls, attending tradeshow and conferences, and active participation in GBTA.

  • Prospect and sell guest rooms, meeting space and other Hyatt services to customer groups, manage accounts, and conduct hotel site inspections to help generate business.

  • Prepare and present effective proposals, maintain well organized documentation and reports, utilizes Hyatt systems and coordinates customer service requirements as appropriate.

  • Organize and participate in client entertainment/FAM’s, special promotions, tours, hotel site inspections and tradeshows/conferences.

  • Assist in implementing special promotions relating to direct sales segments.

  • Effectively communicate client requirements, ensuring all information is accurate between client and hotel.

  • Oversee key lifestyle/consortia programs and act as the point of contact for travel advisors.

  • Obtain, document, and route all necessary information on new/existing clients, including billing information, credit application, rooming list and VIP arrangements.

  • Negotiate and close contracts that meet the hotel’s business plan objectives.

  • Assist Area Director of Sales & Marketing in the preparation of annual marketing plan, including the action plans aligned to assigned market segments.

  • Participate and occasionally lead sales, event and other staff meetings.

  • Problem solve and develop solutions to meet client’s important requirements/needs.

  • Maintain or exceed sales goals as assigned by ADOSM.

  • Responsible for month-end reporting and tracking of account production.

  • Assist the ADOSM and Area Sales team on special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a high demand, fast-paced environment

  • Refined verbal, written, and presentation skills

  • Proficient in general computer knowledge, Lanyon, Envision Sales, Envision Transient, and other Hyatt systems

  • Strong knowledge of GDS/Consortia, Entertainment, and Tour & Travel related transient markets and Agency 360 reports

  • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of hotel sales experience, specifically BT/LT and group sales experience

  • Proven performance achieving assigned sales productivity goals

  • A strong working knowledge of Memphis local corporate transient business accounts and national accounts

  • Prefer completion of a Hyatt Corporate Management Training Program or equivalent training

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality or business management or applicable hands-on experience in position

  • Lifestyle or Upscale hotel experience is preferred

  • Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line

  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills

  • Ability to travel for tradeshows, conferences, and personal development
