Job Details The Cash Department Representative is responsible for the daily preparation, posting, and balancing of payments, adjustments and denials from healthcare third party insurance payers and patients to patient claims. The core responsibilities of a Cash Representative are to accurately and efficiently enter remittance information provided from the insurance carriers. All job functions are required to meet the department’s performance standards for productivity and quality PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Prepares and balances daily deposits and cash posting batches for all CHSLI facilities. Accurately reconciles cash batches in accordance with the department’s cash control policies and procedures. Posts manual and ERA payments and adjustments while ensuring all deposits and transactions are balanced on a daily basis. Access electronic platforms/ websites (Ins Co websites, Onbase, banking websites) to troubleshoot problems, investigates missing payment remittances, and identifies incomplete information necessary to post payments. Escalates questions and issues as needed to the Cash Posting Manager. Assist with the review and testing of system processes to increase automation as it relates to ERA’s, denial management, and banking operations. Prepares month-end reports of cash performance KPI’s for leadership. Meets and/ or exceeds productivity and quality standards as set forth in the department’s policies and procedures. Prepares refunds for processing based on CHSLI policy and procedures. Prepares and notifies other departments/vendors, etc. of deposits and correspondence pertaining to their operations. Tracks and investigates unapplied cash for accurate payment allocation Adheres to all organizational policies and procedures. POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Licensure/Certification: Skills: 1+ years’ experience in healthcare insurance billing, knowledge of third party insurance in regards to plan types (HMO/PPO/POS and Indemnity). Strong data entry skills; ability to input a high volume of information. Proficient 10 key skills, subject to testing. Attention to detail – ability to maintain speed while upholding accuracy. Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 or medical terminology preferred. Ability to perform simple analysis and discuss with Manager. Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word and Excel, subject to testing. Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with insurance carriers, patients, and colleagues. Ability to work independently, exercising good judgment, and multi-task in a high stress, fast-paced service environment with patients, patient’s family, insurance carriers, and leadership. Ability to maintain professional conduct and good working relationships with staff, management, and payers. Detail-oriented with good analytical problem-solving skills. Experience: Two years’ experience in hospital billing or a related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Salary Range USD $21.00 - USD $27.00 /Hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
