Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an experienced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Engineer (level 5) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Vehicle Engineering organization. This position is in Melbourne, Florida.

Job Summary:

Responsible for the inspection of aeronautical vehicle structure. This position is responsible for developing and implementing unique nondestructive inspection techniques, methods, and procedures as well as performing updates as needed to existing techniques, methods and procedures. Works with design, project and quality engineers through the development process to select and implement the best NDT method to ensure product quality at lowest cost.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science and 14 years of relevant experience to include a background in non-destructive inspections (NDI); OR a Master of Science degree and 12 years of relevant experience to include a background in non-destructive inspections. Equivalent experience may be substituted for a degree.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree discipline in Materials Science or similar

  • Experience with multiple NDI techniques for both metallic and composite materials (i.e., UT, Eddy Current, CT, etc.)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience leading or mentoring less experienced engineers

  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment

  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplishing them simultaneously

  • Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions

  • Experience with military specs and standards

  • Experience interfacing with a military customer

Salary Range: $129,500 - $194,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
