Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a highly skilled and experienced 3D/VFX Artist with expertise in 3D modeling, texturing, animation, motion graphics, and compositing, particularly with proficiency in Maya/3D MAX/Blender/After Effects. This position will be in Melbourne, FL. The ideal candidate will play a key role within our creative team, functioning as both an independent contributor and a subject matter expert, bringing innovative 3D solutions to our projects and seamlessly integrating them into motion graphics and compositing workflows. Proficiency in After Effects is preferable, and demonstrated knowledge of the Unreal game engine is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality 3D models and assets for use in various projects.

  • Hard-surface Sub-D mesh workflow

  • Develop realistic textures and materials for 3D assets, work with PBR Materials and UDIM Sets

  • Animate 3D objects, and environments to meet project requirements.

  • Integrate 3D elements into motion graphics projects.

  • Composite and blend 3D and 2D elements to create stunning visuals.

  • Translate art direction into impactful storytelling aids and standalone finished sequences.

  • Function as an independent contributor while collaborating with the creative team to conceptualize and execute 3D designs.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate them into your work.

  • Optimize 3D assets for performance and rendering efficiency.

  • Maintain library of 3D assets with supporting files Renders

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIREMENTS)

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of related experience OR Masters with 4 years of related experience OR 10 years of experience in lieu of Degree.

  • Professional experience in 3D modeling, texturing, animation, motion graphics, and compositing experience.

  • Proven experience as a 3D Artist, with a strong portfolio showcasing modeling, texturing, animation, motion graphics, and compositing work.

  • Solid understanding of 3D software and tools.

  • CAD to Polygonal Mesh Conversion

  • Able to efficiently optimize and/or retopologies problematic meshes

  • Proficiency in Maya, 3D Max, Blender.

  • Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

  • Deadline driven, able to work on multiple projects in parallel.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Comfortable functioning as an independent contributor and subject matter expert.

  • Ability to translate art direction into impactful storytelling aids and standalone finished sequences.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

PREFERRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer graphics or related program (or related work experience).

  • Experience with other 3D software, motion graphics tools, and compositing software is a plus.

  • Camera tracking, import/export compositing data between applications

  • Proficiency in Maya, 3D Max and Blender.

  • Proficiency in After Effects (preferable).

  • Nonlinear Video Editing experience with tools such as Premiere Pro or Final Cut

  • Experience with graphic design layout and illustration (a plus)

  • C4D Mograph proficiency (a plus)

  • Proficiency with Trapcode Suite (a plus)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Unreal game engine (a plus).

Salary Range: $76,600 - $115,000

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
