Health First Multi Modality Radiology Supervisor - Radiology Support Personnel in Melbourne, Florida

POSITION SUMMARY:

Supervises the work of the Lead Technologists and staff. Uses technical expertise to mentor the staff andprovide the necessary care of patients. Provides patient care less than 50% of the time. Has the authorityto discipline and evaluate associates. Participates with the Manager/Director on personnel andmanagement issues. Makes decisions in the absence of the Manager/Director.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Engagement:

  • Meets Gallup survey goals and objectives.
  • Holds the agreed upon number of staff meetings per year and provides minutes.
  • Posts up-to-date Health First, Inc. information on the appropriate associate bulletin boards.
  • Provides opportunity to attend Health First informational meetings.
  • Attends required Management meetings.
  • Meets with Lead Technologists daily to discuss any departmental issues.
  • Conveys to lead technologists/supervisors, i.e. new protocols, compliance issues, corporate and
  • departmental information, etc. to be passed on to the associates
  • Creates and maintains a positive work environment, maximizing the contributions of the
  • associates by;
  • Staff's technical development.
  • Staff's personal growth.
  • Lead Technologists management skills Quality/No Harm:
  • Ensures the correct procedures are performed on the correct patient by verifying two forms of patient identification.
  • Appropriately evaluates physician orders from medical charts and/or prescriptions.
  • Obtains pertinent patient history from the requisition, the patient, the medical chart, or other sources whenever possible.
  • Adheres to Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals, participates with Management for compliance with Joint Commission standards.
  • Adheres to the ALARA Principles of radiation safety.
  • Practices aseptic and sterile techniques.
  • Ensures all Associates are practicing proper radiation safety precautions and proper magnetic field screening at all times.
  • Reports all malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate department, fellow associates and management.
  • Researches and documents when malfunctioning equipment is not reported and reports to management the associate (if known) who failed to report the malfunction; ensures that equipment repairs are completed in a timely manner and gives any unresolved issues to management.
  • Completes a contrast screening form prior to beginning any procedure that requires the use of intravenous contrast media, and discusses this information with the Radiologist so that the appropriate contrast media can be selected.
  • Completes all required documentation both written and electronic (i.e. Safety Portal) (examples: patient history, pregnancy, procedural and/or consent forms, MARS, Adverse Drug Reaction,
  • Medication Reconciliation, Medication Occurrence Report, Incident Reports (patient and/or associate).
  • Maintains current CPR certification, State of Florida License, and ARRT certification(s) and renews all applicable certifications and/or licenses before the expiration date.
  • Coordinates and insures all associates comply with yearly requirements within designated time frame.
  • Knowledge regarding location of emergency equipment/supplies and how to use such equipment/supplies (i.e. drug boxes, crash cart, O2, BP/stethoscope, suction, etc.), as well as oversees completion of drug box, crash cart and refrigerator daily log checklist (if applicable).
  • Familiar with the Health First Emergency Kardex and responsibilities in relation to specified emergent codes
  • Responsible for hurricane preparedness and their particular responsibilities as a Health First associate.
  • Correctly identifies, marks, orients, and annotates all patient images.
  • Demonstrates the appropriate skill sets as determined by the "Annual Competency Assessments".
  • Monitors and complies with Joint Commission/ACR standards and performs all job functions in accordance with Federal, State and Regional requirements to ensure compliance to these standards.
  • Assures that the "Pending Work Report" is run once per shift, ensures associates are completing computer work, investigates and completes anything done in error or left undone and addresses associate non-compliance computer issues.
  • Resolves all PACS QA issues prior to applying the "OK" to images.
  • Ensures all required documentation is scanned into the correct patient's exam folder in PACS.
  • Follows proper file room procedures.
  • Ensures image quality by spot checking technologist's exams on a random basis and reports issues to management.
  • Ensures scanner quality by conducting and/or overseeing scanner QA.
  • Ensures all new technologists are properly oriented in protocols and procedures.
  • With the Manager, in conjunction with associates, suggestions to improve, implement or revise section protocols and/or department policies and procedures.
  • Ensures "Quality Assurance Standards" are met regarding image/technical protocols Customer Experience:
  • Practices excellent customer relations skills at all times with those they come in contact with, i.e. patients, physicians, other associates and the public.
  • Takes appropriate action to insure customer satisfaction with all procedures performed.
  • Ensures that the lead technologists of all areas of direct report: coordinate processes involving patient care, follows departmental and organizational policies and procedures and satisfies the necessary requirements they are accountable for.
  • Ensures rooms/equipment are stocked, cleaned and ready for the next exam.
  • Addresses any daily workflow, i.e. physician complaints, equipment problems, staffing issues that were conveyed by the lead technologist/associates.

Stewardship:

  • Works with management to manage resources (supplies & equipment) & personnel (hire, transfer, termination, and scheduling) to achieve Health First goals & objectives.
  • Provides input to help maintain operational budget while meeting departmental financial goals.
  • Specific job/tasks/information completed by deadline. (i.e. e-learning, Hurricane Preparedness Worksheets, evaluations, competency assessments, confidentiality agreements)
  • Ensures that supplies are ordered properly and present when needed.
  • Follows through with exams that are found on the Pending Work Report that are not dictated or signed off by the Radiologist.
  • Annually reviews and updates the CPT codes in FIM/SIM.
  • Ensures the appropriate charges for all exams performed and supplies utilized according to error reports.
  • Completes all required documentation and/or required forms (i.e., Kronos, PL Request, and any other required documentation as appropriate).
  • Completes all annual mandatory items, including input regarding Annual Performance Review.
  • Demonstrates effective time management skills.
  • Contributes as a team member on departmental or corporate projects.
  • Willingly assists in other areas of the department, hospital, and/or participates in community activities as a Health First representative when needed.
  • Remains flexible and adaptable to changes in workflow, processes, etc.
  • Accepts additional responsibilities to assist with workload or to facilitate departmental goals/initiatives (i.e., voluntarily works additional hours, assists management with necessary workflow and/or process changes, data collection endeavors, etc.).
  • Reports to workstation at scheduled time, and follows breaks and lunch policies.
  • Utilizes Kronos system properly.
  • Completes competency checklist for all technologists.
  • Provides monthly Associate Staffing schedule with input from Lead Technologists

*QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: *

  • Graduate of Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology, or equivalent approved school of ultrasound or radiologic technology.
  • Florida State Licensed General Radiographer (if applicable).
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
  • Prior experience - 3 years technical experience.
  • Ability to perform basic computer skills pertinent to job performance.
  • Current BLS certification or achieved within three months of hire.
  • Encouraged to achieve "Quality Management" certification.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to adapt to a combination of walking, bending, stooping, reaching and lifting throughout the shift.
  • Ability to move, lift or position patients.
  • Ability to push wheelchairs, stretchers and beds.
  • Ability to be flexible in covering required shifts (Mandatory overtime and Call shifts).
