Leidos has an opening for a Configuration Management Drafting Technician to create detailed technical drawings or plans for IT networks. The drafting technician should be familiar with computer software to convert the designs, plans, and layouts of engineers and architects into a set of technical drawings. The drafting technician will function as support developer and draft engineering designs and drawings from preliminary design concepts. This is an excellent opportunity to develop in one of AT&Ts key engineering organizations supporting deployment of new, innovative, and challenging technologies.

The job duties of the Drafting Technician are as follows:

  • Manage the IT-IA-IM baseline configuration for all-project related work for project oversight as well as office-level oversight and control.

  • Develop policy for documenting and changing baseline project network configuration items.

  • Provide drawing, diagraming, and network mapping expertise and support to the Configuration Management Team.

  • Coordinate with network architects and engineers to gather requirements for designs.

  • Utilize complex network analysis tools to identify and build network maps for enterprise level services.

The tools are:

  • Network Automation, formerly HP Network Automation(HPNA).

  • Network Node Manager(NNM).

  • Riverbed

  • Create detailed designs with various computer software applications.

  • Create drawings in support of tooling and equipment component designs.

  • Establish, train, and maintain network drawing standards to serve all contract requirements.

  • Prepare and review network diagram sketches with applicable teams prior to official drafting.

  • Identify potential operational issues and redesign products and processes to improve functionality.

  • Ensure final designs comply with regulations and quality standards.

  • Interface with vendors and internal customers to schedule and coordinate work.

  • Document and track action items and input from design review meetings.

  • Identify and evaluate key components for equipment.

  • Clarify and refine automated network mapping tool outputs with network engineers and offsite network technicians.

  • Interface with and coordinate work taskings through customer managed ticket system.

Basic Qualifications

  • TS/SCI with Poly required

  • Candidate must have 10 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education. This equates to a Doctorate and 3 years, Master’s and 4 years, Bachelor’s and 6 years, an Associate’s and 8 years orHS diplomaand 10 years.

  • Compliance with Department of Defense (DoD)8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.

  • Functional knowledge of MS Office products such as Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

  • Proficiency creating network drawings using MS Visio.

Desired qualifications

  • Ability to brief and communicate with team leadership, customers, and vendors.

  • Familiarity with Atlassian Confluence team collaboration applications.

  • Be familiar with applications related to network and topology mapping.

  • Prior experience as a network administrator.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $68,900.00 - $124,550.00
