Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Aircraft Sheet Metal Technician 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Manufacturing Organization. This role will be located on site in Melbourne, Florida.

The selected candidate will require knowledge of Aircraft Structural fabrication, assembly, and installations. Complete acquaintance with an understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the job and apply practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered.

Position Summary:

Work in a back shop or lab environment utilizing special skills such as but not limited to; close tolerance hole drilling, countersinking, fastener installation, shooting and or bucking rivets, trimming, use of micrometers, and calipers. Employees fabricate, assemble, and repair production sheet metal products and equipment in accordance with blueprints, drawings, and specifications. We fabricate sheet metal layouts; set up and operates fabricating machinery; shape metal using blocks or forms and inspects assemblies and installations for conformance to specifications. Our technicians plan, lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and repair both internal and external aircraft structures and surfaces for aircraft modification in accordance with technical manuals, engineering drawings, and FAA regulations.

Essential Functions:

  • Fabrication of parts, assemblies, installations, and repair of production sheet metal products

  • Operate under restrictive policies regarding FOE (Foreign Object Debris), clean as you go, and house keeping

  • Adhere to Safety policies but not limited to safety glasses, proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). And hazardous waste requirements

  • Ability to work any shift including nights and weekends.

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Candidate must be comfortable in a lab environment and be able to collaborate closely with system engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years of aerospace fabrication and/or sheet metal experience

  • Ability to develop and build first article pieces that have not been built with the aid of production tools

  • Ability to pass a new hire Physical

  • Ability to frequently move and position objects weighing 25 pounds.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance along with Special Program Access within a reasonable amount of time as stated by the business

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Aircraft Structural fabrication, assembly, and installations

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance along with Special Program Access investigated within the last 5 1/2 years

  • Experienced and familiar with blueprints, drawings, and specifications

  • NX modeling system experience

Salary Range: $49,900 - $83,100

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
