Overview of the Role:
Provide overall leadership of the Distribution Center operations to assure the highest levels of customer service, safety and quality.
Lead and support the entire Distribution network with regards to the use of standard operating procedures and tracking employee productivity against engineered standards for all work tasks.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Regular attendance is required to maintain the function of the job
Management and leadership development of direct and indirect reports
Develop and monitor KPI’s:
Establish and regularly review key performance indicators (KPIs) for the distribution center operations.
Track and analyze KPIs related to customer service, safety, quality, inventory accuracy, and productivity
Establish and coordinate priorities and responsibilities having a key focus on the PA Distribution Center Management Team. May involve assisting with other DC locations.
Establish, document, control, and problem solve the processes by which goods are received and shipped from our DC’s
Lead the DC network in development, systemic periodic review and update of standard work procedures and documentation for all job functions.
Lead the DC network in development and maintenance of engineered standards for all job functions.
Implement and maintain a visual workplace initiative at DC facilities to share personnel and team performance to engineered standards.
Track productivity improvements made versus an established baseline at regular intervals (monthly/annually)
Utilize engineering standards to calculate and quantify future productivity improvement project results.
Pro-actively communicate with others in the company and within the DC network –to assure that we meet customer and company expectations
Meet customers’ expectations of speed and accuracy of shipments.
Problem-solve issues of non-conformance
Maintain accurate inventory levels
Manage to the 5 R’s
Develop budgets and forecast related to the cost for distributing product from DC and assembly/production area:
Develop budgets and forecast updates and meet the budget/forecast goals
Measure and monitor performance of the operation and of the associates
Work on continuous improvement projects that will reduce costs and improve efficiency in the DC operation. The savings must be reflected in the PI and tracked monthly.
Facilitate development of direct and indirect reports with a comprehensive plan based on the needs of the operation as well as developmental areas.
Assure all work centers are safe and are well as focused at addressing safety requirements within the DC
Take on special projects and analysis as required.
Performs other duties as assigned
Successful Candidate Profile:
Bachelor’s degree in logistics or industrial engineering. MBA is preferred
Minimum 10 years’ experience in distribution and warehousing is preferred
Ability to map processes, write procedures, and develop engineered productivity standards
Proven track record of leadership at a senior level position over large or multiple distribution sites
P & L or cost center responsibility of a multimillion account
Proven experience managing direct report staff in a warehouse/distribution center environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to solve new and unique requests by our customers
Good computer and analytical skills
Works independently
Excellent communicator, both written and oral
