DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This is a professional social services internship for Crawford County Human Services.  As a County Social Casework Intern, you will be responsible for learning the case management duties of on-going case workers for children and families referred under the Child Protective Services Law.  Within this role, you will learn about three core principles including safety, well being, and permanency for children and families. This position affords the opportunity to observe and assist caseworkers with investigating reports of suspected abuse or neglect and ensuring the safety of the child or children within mandated timeframes.  You will also learn to assist with interviewing and obtaining information, completing mandated assessments, performing home visits, and providing protective and supportive services to those being served.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time, unpaid internship, from August 2024 - May 2025. Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Hours vary for school attendance. Occasional overtime and travel may be required. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements: Enrollment as a full time student in a bachelor's degree program in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related behavioral science, and completion of 75 credits, including completion of 15 credits in one of the listed majors.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
