Liberty Healthcare Corporation Primary Care Physician (30 hour workweek) in ME, United States
A full-time Primary Care Physician position is available with Liberty Healthcare at the Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center in Bangor, Maine.
The Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center provides inpatient and outpatient services to adults who are experiencing mental illness.
Selected members of the hospital’s medical staff work through a collaborative partnership with Liberty Healthcare.
As a Primary Care Physician with Liberty at the Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center, your role will focus on providing primary care to patients in the hospital’s onsite medical clinic.
Your day to day responsibilities will include:
Conducting medical histories and physicals of new admissions and existing hospital patients
Diagnosing and treating acute and chronic medical conditions – and providing preventive health care
Ordering laboratory and diagnostic services
Prescribing medications and monitoring efficacy
Collaborating with Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Primary Care Physicians, Psychiatrists, Specialists, Pharmacists, Registered Nurses, and other clinical professionals and ancillary staff
Making referrals to medical specialists and coordinating specialty care
Documenting services provided and patient health information in electronic medical records on a timely basis
Providing health education to patients and hospital staff
Participating in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and participating in medical staff activities and committees
Please note – this role is limited to basic primary care and does not involve providing psychiatric or mental health services.

You are a good fit for this position if you are licensed or eligible to practice medicine in Maine and have completed a residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. You should be well versed in primary care and have an interest in serving people who are experiencing mental illness.
