Department Summary:

Our team architects, implements, and operates enterprise data systems, software products, and enabling engineering platforms. We have a diverse, highly technical, and motivated team that embraces self-direction and empowerment toward our goal of delivering powerful and sustainable software for the enterprise. Having experts in a wide variety of domains (software architecture, big data & cloud computing, aviation domain, etc.), we rely on cross-functional collaboration to promote organizational learning and quality.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable software systems with quality and rigor

  • Continuously improve our codebases and our development/deployment processes

  • Collaborate with peers during planning, technical discussions, and code reviews

  • Write clean and testable code that works consistently locally and in virtual & cloud environments

  • Partner with domain experts to apply our software products to our diverse Mission space

  • Share your experiences with other MITRE teams and external audiences

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires less than 1 year of related experience with a related Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of related education and work experience in Computer Science, Data Science, or other engineering fields.

  • US citizen capable of obtaining & maintaining a US government clearance

  • Experience with high level programming languages such as Java or Python

  • Experience with software version control, continuous integration and delivery, and Agile and DevOps methodologies and tools.

  • Comfortable learning new languages and ideas, embracing continuous, on-the-job learning

  • Creative problem solvers and risk takers

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teammates, technical partners, and stakeholders

  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with web technologies and frameworks such as Typescript, JSON, React, and Vue

  • Familiarity with data science, analysis, modeling, and visualization using Python, R, and/or Clojure

  • Familiarity with distributed data systems and cloud platforms (Hadoop, AWS, Spark, Kafka, etc.)
