MITRE is seeking a talented Junior Graphic Designer with a strong eye for design and a passion for creativity, to join the Enterprise Communications (EC) in-house creative team. As a junior designer and print specialist, you will be creating high-quality graphics for various projects, including digital, print, and signage, while also being responsible for operating a 60" plotter for large format printing. You will gain hands-on experience with industry-standard design tools and printing equipment, contributing to high-profile projects in support of MITRE’s strategic vision.
The ideal candidate will work directly with the creative lead and alongside senior graphic designers to bring the MITRE brand’s creative vision to life. This person will build strong relationships with other internal EC team members, as well as external stakeholders to advance the department's goals and mission.
This role requires exemplary design skills with a high taste level and the ability to develop fresh design ideas in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. You are a detail-oriented visual problem solver who thrives in collaborative teamwork. You work effectively with cross-functional teams and can clearly articulate creative concepts to leadership, all while being a proactive self-starter with excellent time management skills.
The location for this position is in McLean, VA.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Design, under the guidance of the design lead and senior graphic designers, creative assets and apply branding standards across customer touchpoints that may include advertising, social media posts, environmental graphics, PPT presentations
Responsible for operating and maintaining large format printer, ensuring high-quality prints are produced according to specifications, including loading paper, adjusting print settings, performing routine maintenance, and quality checks
Production of print and digital materials, including preparing files for print and web
Design and maintain brand guidelines, presentation decks and templates
Provide support to the Creative team as needed, including file organization and archiving
Manage multiple projects efficiently and nimbly shift focus as priorities change
Maintain library of visual assets, including stock and in-house photography
Explore and present new design and creative ideas
Maintain high standards and constantly strive for innovative design solutions
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience
1+ years of relevant experience in a design role
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site .
Preferred Qualifications:
Competency with the latest mobile, desktop and VTC technologies and meeting platforms (Microsoft Teams and Zoom).
Ability to effectively apply strong self-organization and time management skills, with considerable emphasis on self-initiation.
Ability to work collaboratively with others.
Strong organization skills with attention to detail.
Able to work independently, proactively assess situations and make decisions
Ability to quickly adapt to schedule changes in this fast-paced environment.
Creative, professional approach to problem resolution
Ability to multi-task, handling multiple projects and tasks
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to self-manage multiple projects with varying timelines and shift gears when goals and deadlines change

Knowledge of design trends and principles.
