About this role:

​Capital One is looking for a strategic, results-driven professional to join a talented Chief of Staff function supporting the Enterprise Data Team within Product Management. This position requires exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills; experience partnering closely with senior executives; the ability to lead projects and work with multiple stakeholders or partners to meet objectives; and a proven track record of building trusted relationships and influencing key stakeholders.

The Enterprise Data product team is focused on driving two primary outcomes we need from our data ecosystem to enable real-time intelligent experiences ensuring 1) data is well-managed and easy to govern 2) data is easy to capture, find, understand, and use … with a foundation that can evolve over time. We are a cross-functional team aligning product, tech, design, machine learning, risk and other horizontal partners as we work to create a modern data ecosystem to support innovation and business across all corners of the company.

Enterprise Data comprises three product domains and two horizontal top of house teams

  • Data Management - Focusing on embedding automated governance throughout the data lifecycle from data creation, to data publishing and transforming, to data deletion

  • Data Consumption & Experience - Helping Enterprise Data solidify a foundation to make data easy to find, understand and use via our data warehouse, data lake, The Exchange, and data products

  • Privacy & External Data Sharing - Providing transparency to our end consumers about their data and ensures critical governance processes related to data sharing with third parties and privacy regulations

  • Top of House

  • Data Operations - Establish and nurture our operating model, own program governance, and support risk management.

  • Data Strategy, Analytics & Culture - Helping domains measure and monitor their strategies; driving strategic engagement, and establishing our Data Culture.

As a Chief of Staff, you will:

  • Swiftly develop a deep understanding of the organization’s strategy and vision so that you can lean into complex issues and influence as necessary

  • Partner with Enterprise Data leadership to create, socialize, and deliver our ambitious agenda

  • Build relationships and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand processes and drive results; Connect dots across multiple leaders to understand and aggregate impacts to the business

  • Work with key executives and partners to understand areas of need and build efficient and effective operational processes

  • Partner with communications and leadership to bring strategy to life for our associates, horizontal partners, and stakeholders across the Capital One enterprise,

  • Partner with people leadership to engage, empower and inspire associates

  • Be data driven as a way to continuously improve operations

  • Lead associate engagement activities related to associate survey response strategies, org-wide recognition, L&D, and other culture-focused initiatives

The Successful Candidate will be:

  • A source of positive energy, inspiration, and motivation for the organization

  • Able to build strong, trusted relationships and operate in an influential manner with executives to assist in driving the strategic agenda

  • An experienced operator, capable of decomposing a vision into goals and goals into execution plans

  • A multi-tasker, able to handle multiple priorities in parallel, and extremely well organized

  • Highly collaborative (comfortable partnering with all levels of the organization) while working backwards from intended outcomes

  • Experienced at identifying patterns and commonalities that can create a bigger picture out of small pieces, anticipating what’s around the corner

  • Proven in practicing discretion while handling highly sensitive issues

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or military experience

  • At least 4 years of experience in Staff management and training

  • At least 4 years of experience in Organizational development and performance

  • At least 4 years of experience in Budget management

  • At least 4 years of experience in Project or process management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance or Organizational Development

  • At least 5 years of experience in Project or Process management - Experience managing visible projects which require the ability to manage cross-functional team members, remove obstacles and influence appropriately

  • At least 5 years of experience in Communications planning and development, including department communications, leadership team meetings, presentations, memos and reports

  • At least 5 years of experience in Staff management and training

  • At least 5 years of experience in Organizational development and performance

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $233,100 - $266,000 for Director, Chief of Staff

San Francisco and San Jose, California (Hybrid On-Site): $246,900 - $281,800 for Director, Chief of Staff

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
