Job Title: Operating Engineer
Job Description
The Operating Engineer will be responsible for assisting in the hands-on maintenance of building systems, ensuring the safe, efficient, and proper operations of all assigned properties. This includes overall building maintenance, customer service, changing lightbulbs, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and maintaining the theatre hall.
Responsibilities
Perform hands-on maintenance of building systems.
Ensure safe and efficient operations of all assigned properties.
Carry out overall building maintenance tasks.
Provide excellent customer service.
Change lightbulbs and perform plumbing tasks.
Handle carpentry and painting jobs.
Maintain the theatre hall.
Essential Skills
High school diploma or GED.
Four (4) years of experience in the building maintenance industry.
Accredited trade school degree in HVAC, electronics, or related trade.
Union training and certification.
Knowledgeable in the safe and proper use of tools such as ladders, lifts, basic hand tools, volt meter, manual drain auger, plumber's helper, safety goggles, ear protection, and fire extinguisher.
Extensive electrical work experience and licensing.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Mathematical skills for calculating load balancing, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Union training and certification.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Environment
You will be part of a team of 18 responsible for maintaining a 300-room hotel, parking garage, putt-putt course, and theatre hall. The team is also preparing to break ground on a baseball field and stadium on campus. The shift is from 10pm to 6:30am, either from Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Thursday.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of McLean, Virginia.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $38.00/hr.
