Position Title: Cook Purpose of this position The purpose of this position is to prepare and provide food service to residents in a cost-effective, efficient manner to safely meet residents needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.

Qualifications Education: The ability to understand oral and written instructions in English. License or Certification: none required. Experience: One year experience as a cook preparing meals for 50 or more persons. Experience in a healthcare setting preferred, but not rquired.

Delegation of authority Authority is delegated to the individual in this position to:

• Prepare residents diets in accordance with diet orders and daily menus.
• Assist the food service supervisor to determine the amount and type of food necessary to prepare the daily menus.
• Monitor use of food to eliminate waste.
• Follow posted menus for food preparation
• Stock food in compliance with dietary policies and procedures.

This position reports to : Executive Director

Cook Performance Standards

1. Supervise kitchen operations in the absence of the dietary services' coordinator.
2. Handle and prepare food in a sanitary manner and observe infection control procedures.
3. Prepare all regular and special menu items for all meals according to menus.
4. Follow written menus and recipes.
5. Understand and be able to prepare therapeutic diets.
6. Prepare special food requests of residents.
7. Be responsible for avoiding food waste.
8. Assume responsibility for meeting meal schedules.
9. Be responsible for care of food service equipment.
10. Keep work area clean and sanitize work surfaces after food preparation. Break down and clean your work area as assigned by cleaning schedule. Clean pots and pans and other wares as necessary.
