Summary This job opportunity is for an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, position description D1366000/D1525000, within the 108th AMXS of the New Jersey National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position. Its primary purpose is to inspect, repair, modify, and service aircraft systems, components, and assemblies, both on- and off-aircraft. Responsibilities As an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-10/12, you will: Perform inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on aircraft Perform major adjustments and alignments of aircraft systems or components Remove and replace aircraft components Perform operator maintenance on aircraft installed auxiliary power units Launch and recover assigned and transient aircraft to include those on alert status Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Areas of Consideration: CAT 4 All permanent, on-board, Title 32 Employees within the New Jersey National Guard All New Jersey National Guard members (M-Day, Traditional, Active Guard Reserve, and Drill-Status Guardsmen) Individuals eligible for membership in the New Jersey National Guard Military Grades: A1C/ E-3 to TSgt/ E-6 Selectee has one (1) year to obtain required AFSC To be eligible for a WG 12 will depend on the applicants AFSC skill level and training. Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. (Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1) Qualifications General Experience: Must have the following experience(s): Removing and replacing aircraft parts, accessories, and components Making adjustments and settings according to established specifications Using hand tools and test equipment Specialized Experience: Must have 18 months of the following experience(s): Installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting Functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification Coordinating the work of other mechanics Scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow Instructing lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines Education There are no education requirements for this vacancy announcement Additional Information Security Clearance Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance within 1(One) Year of appointment.
