Weyerhaeuser QC Value Manager in McComb, Mississippi

The position is a full- time, exempt position, and reports to the Unit Manager.  The QC/Value Manager is a key member of the leadership team.  The position is responsible for daily quality control and customer quality assurance activities.  The leader selected will be accountable for safety, value delivery, cost, environmental compliance, training and development, employee relations, and development of annual plans.

This position will be responsible for meeting productivity and quality goals; identifying safety, quality, and production issues; coordinating activities with the maintenance and production teams; and taking measures to proactively address all concerns. 

Key Functions:

  • Role model safety standards and on-the-job behavior by living Weyerhaeuser core principles of integrity, fairness, creating a positive work environment, and ensuring open communication among associates
  • Optimize functional area including production scheduling, value extraction of product mix and asset utilization
  • Develops and implements quality programs, including statistical process control
  • Supervises product testing personnel and procedures
  • Analyzes and responds to customer issues
  • Provides analysis of complaint and quality trends and develops and recommends improvements
  • Promote continuous improvement and innovation in assigned functional area
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Weyerhaeuser, federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Facilitate change and lead others to adapt and anticipate change
  • Maintain long-term big picture view to forecast obstacles and opportunities :::

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 5 years leadership experience OR equivalent education and work experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably lumber manufacturing
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety initiatives
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to lead, direct and follow up on activities of assigned personnel
  • Experience in sawmill optimization and quality
  • Knowledge of lumber grading procedures
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manipulate optimization equipment and make value decisions based off real time data
  • Ability to learn and understand entire manufacturing process from raw materials to sales
  • Advanced computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Customer focused approach
  • Ability to lead and empower work teams 
  • Strong problem-solving skills 
  • Proven employee relations skills 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to plan, organize, and lead work assignments and analyze results
  • Desire to develop towards higher levels of responsibility within Weyerhaeuser
