Cleveland Clinic Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient in Mayfield Hts, Ohio

This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus of $2,500

Cleveland Clinic's inpatient pharmacy areas support distributive and clinical pharmacy services provided by staff pharmacists, clinical pharmacy specialists and pharmacy technicians, supporting 60 nursing units, 80 operating rooms, 4 PACUs, and 10 cath labs, accounting for over 1,440 inpatient beds. As an Inpatient Registered Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in moving medications throughout the facility to enhance patient care. You will join a team that empowers every caregiver to make valuable contributions to patient-focused care, teaching and research activities. This team embraces a positive attitude and respects and supports one another to provide the best care possible.

A caregiver in this position works day/evening rotation, 7:00am - 3:30pm or 3:00pm-11:30am.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Follow established policies and procedures to support functions essential to the operations of the pharmacy department.

  • Perform packaging, preparation, and distribution of medications, inventory control, customer service, and maintaining pharmacy records.

  • Pursue completion of the Cleveland Clinic's School of Pharmacy Technology program in the first 12 months of employment.

  • Prepare medications (selection, labeling, repackaging and non-sterile compounding).

  • Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations.

  • Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies.

  • Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • Document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities, and training in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Appropriately use information systems, technology, and automation to complete assigned tasks.

  • Maintain good standing in the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology program per the student handbook.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • A high school diploma or GED

  • Upon hire, you must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA)

  • Upon hire, it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee

  • Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months

  • Can perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Six months of hospital experience
