Cummins Inc. Quality Engineer in Maxton, North Carolina

DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Quality Engineer to join our team specializing in quality for our corporate office in Maxton, NC.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

Enhance Customer Satisfaction: By effectively managing corrective requests and containment activities, you will directly address plant customer issues, ensuring timely resolutions that enhance overall satisfaction.

Ensure Quality Compliance: Your leadership in maintaining adherence to quality standards (IATF, APQP, PPAP) will guarantee that products and processes consistently meet both initial and long-term requirements, fostering trust with customers.

Drive Change Management: By leading and supporting change management initiatives, you will verify that products and processes align with key performance measures, facilitating smoother transitions and minimizing disruptions.

Support Quality Audits: Your involvement in quality audits will not only ensure compliance but also identify areas for improvement, reinforcing a culture of continuous quality enhancement within the organization.

Act as a Technical Resource: Serving as a quality technical resource for other functional areas will enable cross-departmental collaboration, ensuring that quality practices are integrated throughout the organization.

Mentor and Coach: By coaching and mentoring less experienced team members, you will cultivate a knowledgeable workforce, promoting best practices in quality management and fostering professional growth.

Lead Continuous Improvement: Your focus on continuous improvement through methodologies like lean manufacturing and problem-solving techniques will drive efficiency and innovation, benefiting both processes and products.

Facilitate Safe Launch Initiatives: Leading Safe Launch initiatives during Value Package Introductions (VPI) will ensure that new products are introduced smoothly and safely, minimizing risks and maximizing success.

Manufacturing Expertise : Leverage your knowledge of manufacturing processes to implement necessary changes effectively. This will contribute to continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

Quality Influence : Recognize and engage stakeholders to gather diverse perspectives. Facilitate constructive discussions that help balance quality priorities with business objectives, ensuring informed decision-making.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • Demonstrated role competence is required. College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering or a related technical or scientific subject or experience equivalent is required.

  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

  • Intermediate level of experience required. Preferably 3-5 years’ experience in Manufacturing, Engineering or Program Management role in the automotive industry or a similarly regulated industry.

  • Minimum of 2 years of related manufacturing or quality experience required.

  • Experienced in requirements and implementation of IATF 16949.

  • Experienced in Structured Problem Solving (8D)

  • Knowledge of Basic/Advanced Statistics.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen.

  • Quickly embrace new technology to increase capabilities.

  • Approach problems from a systems perspective, seeing connections, linkages, and interdependencies.

  • Quality certifications desired (CRE CQE Black Belt etc.).

  • Strong verbal presentation and interpersonal/facilitation skills.

  • Make tough, unpopular decisions when necessary.

  • Consider the perspectives of other individuals or groups when making decisions.

  • Ability to perform any other task that supports the organizational goals.

Compensation
