Dana Automotive Sytems Group LLC Lead Technician, SMC Motors in Maumee, Ohio

Job Purpose This position will be responsible for the assembly of prototype and pre-production electric motors. Responsibilities will in include various assembly operations throughout the production process as well as documenting operational performance (attainment, OEE, FTT) and helping to define best practices for standard work instructions. This role is also responsible for training and maintaining training records on the motor line. This role will involve aspects of operations management, various assembly operations, quality assurance, process documentation and improvements. This individual will be positioned to help Dana establish itself as a leader in Electrification worldwide. Job Duties and Responsibilities * Coordinate training and maintain training records for the motor assembly line * Build and meet expectations according to the production schedule * Prepare the line for daily operations (labor planning, labels, etc.) * Build Electric Motors (stators, rotors, motors) utilizing a mix of automated and non-automated tools and equipment * Build prototype units that require use of hand tools and other manual processes * Work with cranes and lift assists to move heavy parts and component on and around the line * Perform rework as needed utilizing detailed, manual processes * Responsible for working with the Operations Team for meeting timelines and development of on-site early unit production at SMC for new customer programs launches * Provide regular updates on build schedule and downtime issues to the Production Supervisor * Raise concerns to Engineering (Quality/ Manufacturing) when issues arise * Develop and maintain and environment where new and potential customers can experience and learn about Dana's EV capabilities * Assist in the identification, implementation, and evaluation of lean initiatives, standard work instructions and process documents to help increase productivity and efficiency rates * Work closely with Quality and Purchasing to verify all purchased components meet specifications and identify any potential issues * Support containment, problem solving and corrective actions relative to customer concerns or issues * Performs other duties as required QUALITICATIONS * 2-year technical degree or higher; equivalent experience will be considered * 3+ years Manufacturing and assembly background * Familiarity in a technical manufacturing environment * Familiarity with robots, automated equipment, and HMI's * Demonstrated proficiencies with automotive and other motion systems * Experience working in a launch/ prototype environment * Electric Motor experience is a plus * Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer literacy functions * Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills * Must be able to interact with all levels of the organization and may be required to facilitate workshops or presentations * Must be able and willing to travel domestically and internationally if needed * Ability and willingness to make suggestions as to changes or improvements to the product and/or work area We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.
