Job Summary:
The Housing Coordinator of an assigned county enables people with developmental disabilities to apply for, qualify for, and move in to affordable housing and also apply for, obtain and retain Housing Choice Vouchers or eligibility for subsidized housing. The Housing Coordinator works actively to increase housing opportunities for people with mental illness.
Major Duties:
Assist client in finding permanent supported housing and other independent living options in the community.
Assist client in applying for Bridge Subsidy program and obtaining any documents needed for applications.
Complete housing applications along with client, along with signing of rental lease agreements.
Take clients to view housing options in the community.
Assist client in establishing a housing expenses budget.
Assist client in move-in plan and furnishing of unit plan.
Registering Client in PAIRS system.
Assist client in purchasing of furnishing for permanent supported housing.
Maintain all receipts of transitional funds to provide to subsidy Administrator
Provide financial oversight of all security deposits, utility deposits, and landlord incentives as needed to secure units.
Assist client in setting up utilities for permanent supported housing.
Ensure accurate recordkeeping of all client income and all sources at entry, minimally at each annual recertification, and at exit to determine increases in income.
Assist clients in matching jobs that match their talents.
Ensuring that the client has the necessary skills for the job they are applying for.
Assist client with job applications, cover letter, and resume completion.
Complete mock interviews to prepare clients for job readiness.
Assist client in the creation of work schedules.
Keep client case files up to date and organized.
Communicate regularly and effectively with the client, service coordinators, service providers, and support personnel to ensure that clients meet house application requirements and maintain housing when secured.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with five years of experience in the Human Services Field working with individuals with mental health issues
Three to five years of experience working in housing support programs (required)
Flexibility to work evenings and occasional weekends
Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple projects and cultivate relationships
Expertise in providing client support/excellent customer service
Computer literacy and efficiency with MS Office software
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must have a commitment to work from a strengths based perspective.
A minimum of $100,000/$300,000 liability insurance on vehicle used for transportation.
