Overview:

Under the direction and guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapist Assistant provides treatment to patients suffering from injuries, or muscle, nerve, joint, and bone diseases. The goal is to improve/restore function, increase strength, relieve pain, and enhance functional independence. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.

 

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a Physical Therapy Assistant Program and Physical Therapist Assistant license in good standing in the state of Michigan required.
  • Physical Therapist Assistant experience preferred.
  • BLS certification required within 3 months of hire
  • Current driver's license in the state of Michigan, availability of a car for business use daily, and proof of insurance required for Bronson at Home.

     

Responsibilities:

  • Follow the plan of care and goals established by the Physical Therapist
  • Provide family and community education
  • Perform physical, electrical, mechanical, and heat treatments according to the treatment plan
  • Conduct individual and/or group Physical Therapy activities
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team discussions or hospital rounds
  • Assist in program development
  • Serve as a resource person in areas of expertise
  • Participate in the student program and student rotation
  • Provide in-services in areas of expertise for the Bronson Rehabilitation System
  • Document in the electronic health record per compliance timelines
  • Communicate to leadership any limitations preventing timely documentation
  • Maintain accurate, legible, and complete records
  • Serve on committees and task forces
  • Participate in process improvement
  • Demonstrate time management skills
  • Supervise Rehab Clinical Assistant, PTA students, and volunteers
  • Maintain and upgrade competencies based on the population served, type and nature of care provided, and advances in healthcare sciences and technology.
