General Summary: The Maintenance Engineer/Specialist, as the process equipment electrical and mechanical expert, provides maintenance and engineering support for small to medium size manufacturing plants. This position reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for leading all maintenance activities, including scheduling and assisting in all maintenance and engineering work for the plant. Essential duties and Responsibilities: * Develops programs, procedures and practices to encourage employees to work safely in an environmentally responsible manner to achieve quality results at acceptable cost levels. * Participates in safety, health, and environmental continuous improvement initiatives. * Responsible for the safe performance of all maintenance and project work. * Provides direction to maintenance team in support and coordination of plant objectives. * Provides advisory support to the plant-engineering group. * Maintains plant engineering standards and compliance. * Develops systems and uses applicable tools to improve understanding of maintenance costs and utility measures relative to overall goals of reliability. * Sets standards for reliability and continuous improvement of equipment (Manages the Avient Reliability Program). * Oversees the daily operation of the utilities systems for the site. * Inspects and troubleshoots equipment as needed. * Manages engineering stores functions to properly support plant needs, including maintenance material and contracting needs, process material needs, raw material purchasing, and physical inventory. * Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment by Engineering project and/or Maintenance parts list/inventory reports * Prepare and develop weekly work schedules for routine and corrective/breakdown maintenance activities for all non-emergency maintenance work. * Oversees instrumentation and electrical (I & E) maintenance work on a daily basis. * Understands and complies with contractual agreements with other site companies. * Implements and maintains CMMS (Limble) system. * Implements and maintains appropriate equipment PM's and calibrations. * Analyzes instrumentation, electrical and mechanical maintenance work and resolves repetitive problems. * Recommends new equipment and/or preventative techniques to improve reliability. * Provides PLC (program logic controls) installation, programming, and troubleshooting expertise. * Develops and implements a plan to upgrade the knowledge and skill set of the maintenance craftsmen. * Available to assist craftsmen with maintenance emergencies. * Manages capital projects. * Manages and approves work performed by outside contractors. * Manages maintenance and capital budget. * Responsible for applicable code and compliance requirements for maintenance and project work. * Other duties as assigned. #LI-CB1 Physical/Environ.
