Job Description

Cintas is seeking a Buyer I to ensure product availability through PO placement, management and delivery into the DC network to maintain a high service level and achieve set inventory goals. Responsibilities include proactively engaging in communication with suppliers, peers, management and other Cintas divisions; working in lock step with Distribution Planners and Buyer II, as well as the Demand team, Sourcing and Manufacturing, Logistics and management; maintaining an adequate supply of inventory to support the demand and safety stock for the DC network; limiting backorders to ensure stated service level goal; working directly with Buyer I partners to communicate backorder recovery, critical PO's and roll-outs; maintaining inventory targets for assigned materials and the DC network; reviewing inventory turns to ensure DCs are not over stocked; working with peer Buyers on DC to DC inventory transfers to cover needs; proactively identifying, resolving and communicating issues and potential issues on delivery dates, backorders and impacts to inventory; ensuring management is informed of issue resolution; communicating unforeseen inventory shortages with the Demand Planning team; assisting Planning and Sourcing/Manufacturing teams on any supplier related or product availability issues; reviewing reports and SAP alerts for all assigned products; expediting goods as necessary; working with Buyers, Demand team and management on incoming inventory to determine backorder recovery as a team; participating in backorder team meetings; providing weekly backorder updates; monitoring all orders from order placement to receipt into the DC network to ensure on-time delivery of products; reviewing all open PO's for assigned materials on a weekly basis; contacting suppliers regarding any past due PO's; holding suppliers accountable to original PO delivery dates; involving management and Sourcing/Manufacturing on late supplier details; holding regular calls with key suppliers with expectations around call details; updating PO dates as needed weekly to reflect accurate delivery information; working in lock step with other Buyers and Demand peers to ensure inventory is being used as efficiently as possible to resolve backorders and stock our DCs; working with Demand team on large DC orders or any other DC demand-related issues and opportunities; utilizing trained tools inside and outside of SAP to identify and resolve issues within day-to-day planning; understanding the entire process from order placement to receipt into the DC.

Skills/Qualifications

Required

  • High School diploma/GED; Bachelor's Degree preferred in Supply Chain or Operations Management

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and intranet/internet

  • Ability to look at large amounts of data and break it down into necessary and meaningful business information

  • Experience with SAP

Preferred

  • Experience in Supply Planning, Purchasing or Buying
