The Dart family of privately held companies, which includes Dart Container Corporation and Dart Interests, utilizes Dart Finance Shared Services (DFSS) to deliver specialized tax, treasury, risk management and internal audit services to Dart affiliated entities through a highly cross-functional and cooperative work environment. As this position is within DFSS, the successful candidate’s responsibilities with Dart will span several different industries including hospitality, manufacturing, real estate management and development among other industries.

In this role, you’ll prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns, assist with audits, and collaborate with key departments to ensure tax compliance. You’ll also contribute to process improvements and maintain your professional development.

    What you'll do...

  • Prepare and file required federal, state and local income and franchise tax returns for assigned companies, which include preparing supporting workpapers and schedules and monitoring tax calendar

  • Prepare and file required federal, state and local estimates and extensions for assigned companies

  • Prepare sales and use tax returns for assigned companies

  • Communicate with Accounting, Treasury and other departments with any questions relating to assigned companies

  • Review fixed assets and prepare necessary tax depreciation reports

  • Prepare and review supporting schedules for tax provisions included in the financial statements for assigned companies

  • Prepare and review response to federal and state tax notices or audits for assigned companies

  • Assist with other projects within Tax department or across departments as needed

  • Expand tax knowledge and maintain certification by completion of continuing education

  • Compile data to support audit responses and requests for information from taxing authorities

  • Assist with technology and data initiatives designed to drive efficiency and streamline reporting

  • Support research of tax compliance and planning matters

    What you'll need...

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in accounting, finance or related field of study

  • Credential with unlimited representation rights before the IRS (CPA, Juris Doctorate or Enrolled Agent)

  • Two (2) years of public accounting experience in a minimum of three of the following areas: C Corporation, S Corporation, individual tax, Partnership or Trust

  • Experience with ProSystem Fx, CorpTax or equivalent tax preparation software

  • Experience with tax research software and tax provision software

  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes to internal and external customers

  • Ability to analyze data, note issues and develop possible solutions to problems

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision making

    Preferred qualifications...

  • Experience with Alteryx, Microsoft Power BI or other data reporting tools

  • Master’s degree with an emphasis in taxation or related field of study

  • Experience in sales and use tax

  • Experience preparing tax provisions
