The Quality Engineer will provide planning, development, implementation and/or oversight of quality systems for inspection (incoming, in-process and final). This process will include the following: measurement techniques and statistical data analysis techniques, new product introductions, production part approval processes, quality related customer relations, and quality cost reduction. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for problem solving and Corrective Actions, and dealing with non-conforming product. This individual will also be responsible for leading and supervising quality hourly associates.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enforce a corrective action system that ensures the timely and permanent resolution of all failures to meet established quality requirements

  • Coordinates and conducts external audits of suppliers, and internal audits of in house quality systems, products and processes

  • Enforce quality requirements in accordance with contract, engineering specifications, and established procedures. Provide in-process and final acceptance inspection for all components, subassemblies, and assemblies built by manufacturing

  • Direct all product inspections and tests in accordance with established quality standards, inspection plans and test procedures

  • Ensure the initial identification, documentation, and control of all non-conforming material discovered through the inspection and test processes

  • Enforce documentation and material review disciplines for all such material

  • Maintain records of inspections and product acceptance performance. Provide summary reports as required for management use

  • Provide management reports to highlight the achieved level of quality and status of actions necessary for its improvement

  • Initiate and implement programs of improving the Site Quality level and reducing the total cost of quality

  • Participate in the material review process and provide inputs with regards to disposition on non-conforming material

  • Maintain records of vendor quality performance. Provide summary reports of this performance for management use

  • Actively support facility cost reduction program

  • Supervise team of Quality Associates across shifts. Train and develop Quality Associates

  • Give direction and guidance on Quality matters within the plant

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have a logical approach to problem solving; strong analytical skill, and good planning ability

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate well at all levels both verbally and in writing. Must be proficient in basic desktop computer skills

  • Must have a high level of initiative

  • Must understand Engineering documentation methods

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Visual aptitude – must be able to see, with or without correction

  • Communication – ability to communicate verbally or non-verbally

  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds

  • Ability to perform a standing job for 8-12 consecutive hours, if required

  • Must be able to walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, reach and grasp for varying periods of time during a consecutive hour period

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Training in black belt techniques is desired

  • Experience with ISO/QS documentation

  • Experience with Quality Systems requirements

  • Technical degree or five (5) years of manufacturing experience including light assembly and plastics processing
