Essel Project Geologist in Martinez, California

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee various environmental projects, including but not limited to remedial actions, field sampling, groundwater investigations, and munitions response projects.

  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and project proposals, demonstrating proficiency in project management methodologies.

  • Develop and implement remedial and removal strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and client expectations.

  • Supervise personnel and provide mentorship to staff, fostering their professional development in technical areas.

  • Cultivate expertise in designated technical domains, establishing internal recognition as a valuable technical resource.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in project management fundamentals, including scheduling, cost controls, and client communication.

  • Maintain regular communication with clients and regulatory agencies, managing expectations and ensuring transparency throughout projects.

  • Report project status and progress to program managers, facilitating effective decision-making and resource allocation.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in environmental and engineering consulting, with a focus on remedial actions and munitions response projects.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite Products.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, field operations, technical staff, and subcontractors.

  • Proficient in writing project work plans, health and safety plans, and other necessary documentation.

  • 40-hour OSHA certification and current 8-Hour HAZWOPER Refresher.

  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25 to 50 percent of the time to project sites, as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related field.

  • Additional professional certifications such as M.S., P.E., P.G., or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing and executing environmental remediation construction projects.

  • Previous involvement in preparing or contributing to project proposals, showcasing strong business development skills.
