Emerson Firmware Test Engineering Co-op in Marshalltown, Iowa

Emerson is looking for a Firmware Test Engineering Co-op for S pring or Fall 2025 to join our Ma rshalltown, IA team . This is an outstanding chance to gain real-world experience in a collaborative environment while working on projects that will truly make a difference. This position is a temporary 8-month co-op assignment from January 2025-August 2025 or May 2025-December 2025.

Focused specifically on the Fisher branded line of products, this position is part of Emerson Final Control, a leader in optimizing process operations around the world known for our team of experts and proven performance and reliability of products.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Engage firmware team to interpret upstream requirements to design, document, and implement supporting validations

  • Perform project and product documentation in accordance to departmental and company procedures and standards

  • Collaborate with other members of the project team to deliver features that are implemented, tested, and documented

  • Design, assemble, and maintain test fixtures

Who You Are:

  • You balance planning with actions. You solicit both input and discussion. You focus on priorities and set stretch goals

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university

  • Major(s): Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering

  • Ability to effectively work in a team environment

  • Ability to understand basic mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic systems

  • Strong analytical problem solving and decision-making skills

  • Programming experience in C#, C++, or similar object-oriented programming languages

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Knowledge of common software test methods

  • Familiarity with continuous integration tools (TeamCity, Jenkins)

  • Experience with distributed version control

  • Experience with ARM embedded processor platforms

  • Commitment to full-time (40 hour) Spring (Jan 2025- August 2025) or Fall (May 2025- December 2025) Co-op experience in Marshalltown, IA.

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States. Sponsorship will not be provided for this position.
