Ronpak Plant Manager in Marshall, Texas

Ronpak has an excellent opportunity for a Plant Manager at our Shreveport, LA plant. The position will need to be a bit flexible in hours, and be available for all of our shifts, including weekends when necessary.

The Plant Manager reports to the General Manager and is responsible for overall management at the plant location including Quality, Production, Engineering, Planning and Maintenance. The Plant Manager is responsible for coordinating operations, meeting goals efficiently, properly training and motivating staff in a safe environment. Additionally, the Plant Manager helps establish the Ronpak culture at the plant location, and assists in identifying and developing the next generation of the plants leaders. This position will be a key member of the Food Safety and Quality team and have responsibility for leading implementation and on-going program management/oversight on SQF certification. The Plant Manager is certified and will operate as the backup for Quality Manager for HACCP and SQF. The Controller is the back-up for the Plant Manager, and will cover for absences or vacancies.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Implement strategies and action plans to ensure the facility supports Ronpaks strategic goals.
  • Plan, organize and direct operations to ensure the most effective return on assets.
  • Initiate strategy and processes, which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of resources, i.e. labor, equipment, facilities, materials and capital.
  • Assure attainment of objectives and standards while ensuring product standards that exceed customer expectations.
  • Establish group and individual accountabilities throughout departments for fact based problem-solving and cost reduction.
  • Manage costs against approved budget in relation to changes in production volume.
  • Continuously improve safety by addressing both physical safety issues and developing employee safety awareness.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews to determine competency, knowledge and overall performance.
  • Select, train and motivate plant supervisory and administrative staff.
  • Maintain as well as improve housekeeping throughout all departments.
  • Maintain and execute food safety plans to achieve and maintain certification and to meet all requirements related to quality and food safety programs.
  • Develop and maintain systems to assure facility meets all food safety system requirements including commitment, document control and records, verification, product identification, trace and recall, incident management, building and equipment design, and pre-requisite programs.
  • Establish and implement all training needs to ensure competency in food safety and quality. Maintain training records.
  • Responsible for reporting issues related to Food Packaging safety or quality.
  • Designated back-up for the SQF Practitioner and is HACCP certified.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years transferable work related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Degree: Four-year Undergraduate Degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior management role and partnering with executive staff.
  • Experience working in manufacturing environment.
  • HACCP certification and implementing SQF systems.

  • Negotiates, coordinates and documents goals for all plant employees.
  • Ensure that employee development plans are in place and effective.
  • Communicates information in a timely and responsible fashion.
  • Achieves b dget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Plans and leads the implementation of all cultural change initiatives at the location.
  • Monitors and controls all Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) activities to ensure compliance with goals.
  • Ensures compliance with all safety and environmental legal requirements.
  • Controls and secures the stable operation of the manufacturing unit.
  • Ensures the plant is reliable and available for production.
  • Assists in tracking and communicating EBITDA measurements.
  • Ensures the availability of product while controlling inventory levels.
  • Fosters an environment of open communication throughout all levels of the location.
  • Assist in implementation and evaluation of various cost savings programs.
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and applicable laws.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
  • Develop strong trusting relationships across every level of company in order to gain support and achieve results.
