RBC Bearings Manufacturing Engineer in Marion, North Carolina
Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide engineering support to business/production unit
Develop, evaluate, design and improve manufacturing methods, materials and tooling
Analyze, plan, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
Confer with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods
Quote internal and external business opportunities
Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts
Estimate production times and related costs to provide information for management decisions
Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes
Apply statistical methods to evaluate and improve process capability and estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential
COMPETENCIES NECESSARY FOR SUCCESS:
Knowledge of CNC machine tools, programming, controls, and capabilities
Knowledge of cutting tools, work-holding, and fixturing methods
Skilled in manufacturing process review/development
Strong understanding of lean process improvements

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
Candidate should have knowledge of Auto-Cad, Pro-E, or Solid-Works design software, Word Processing, Spreadsheet and Project Management software
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Candidate will be required to work in an industrial environment, which may contain hazards such as: loud noise (ear protection must be worn); air-borne dust, exposure to hazards (pinch points, rotating machinery, sharp edges, conveyors, etc.) and wear all required personal protective equipment.
