Donegal Insurance Group Actuarial Analyst in Marietta, Pennsylvania
About the Role
Donegal Insurance Group is looking for a motivated Actuarial Analyst to support our team with the reserving process for both commercial and personal lines of business. This role will involve data analysis, forecasting, and reporting to ensure that our reserves are set appropriately to cover future claims liabilities. You will be working alongside experienced actuaries to develop your technical skills and contribute to the overall financial stability of the organization.
This position is located at our corporate office in Marietta, PA, with hybrid scheduling available after the first year of employment.
Responsibilities and Duties
P erform quarterly actuarial reserve analyses using various actuarial methods and tools
Analyze loss, claim, exposure, and premium data to determine appropriate reserves
Assist with reporting of reserves, findings, and results to senior management
Maintain and update actuarial models for forecasting reserve trends
Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency of reserving procedures
Build and run data reports for requests both inside and outside of the department
Collaborate with ratemaking team to share knowledge and insights across teams and ensure informed, data-driven decisions
Assist with collection and validation of data for annual reinsurance request
Qualifications and Skills
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Data & Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics or related field
Pursuing an actuarial designation in the Casualty Actuarial Society including successful completion of one or more Actuarial exams
SKILLS/TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
Required technical skills
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Basic knowledge of SQL (intermediate knowledge preferred)
Preferred technical skills
Basic knowledge of C/C++, Python, VBA, or other programming language
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Power BI
Personal skills
Strong analytical skills
Attention to detail
Accurately complete assigned tasks on a timely basis
Learn and retain information relating to job functions
Project management skills, ability to handle multiple projects and manage projects to meet deadlines
Maintain professionalism at all times
Starting Pay: The pay range for this position is $60,000 to $80,000 annually. The specific offer will vary based on an applicant's education, qualifications, professional experience, skills, abilities, and any applicable designations/certifications. The posted pay range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience. The pay range may also be adjusted based on an applicant's geographic location.
The base pay is just one component of Donegal's total compensation package for employees. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
