Overview

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Surgical Aide for the Operating Room at our M Health Fairview St. John's Hospital location in Maplewood, MN.

Schedule: This position will be working 0.8 FTE (64 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours on the evening shift with a weekend rotation.

Responsibilities Job Description

As a Surgical Aide, you will be responsible for:

  • Transporting patients to and from the operating room.

  • Assisting with patient transfers on and off the operating room table. Assisting with positioning as advised.

  • Assisting with operating room turnover between cases.

  • Gathering operating room equipment and positioning devices as needed.

  • Cleaning and returning equipment to the correct storage location.

  • Restocking basic operating room and anesthesia supplies.

  • Accessing medications or IV solutions only as required to perform normal job duties following all state and federal regulations regarding medication and IV solution security.

  • Staging team case carts and equipment as advised.

  • Checking and recording anesthesia refrigerator temperature and reporting discrepancies.

  • Maintaining knowledge of, and complying with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.

  • Actively participating in creating and implementing improvements.

  • Performing other responsibilities as needed/assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date)
