Independent School District 279 Secondary Grounds/Maintenance Person in Maple Grove, Minnesota

Position Type: Custodial/Maintenance Location: Park Center Senior High Closing Date: 04/25/2024 Job Summary: To inspire and prepare all students with the confidence, courage and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning by performing tasks and duties associated with the maintenance and care of district facilities, grounds and other equipment. Provides technical expertise to BOS concerning maintenance, repair and operational needs of the facilities and grounds. Responsibilities and tasks include: Perform electrical, plumbing and mechanical repairs; Troubleshooting the operational failure of electrical and mechanical equipment, including but not limited to heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, boilers, electrical and pneumatic controls. Understanding of computerized systems of control relating to heating/air conditioning; Maintaining and be responsible for all yard work including, but not limited to, watering, mowing, trim lawns, prune shrubs, trees, weeding, remove paper and debris from school yard and along fence lines; Preparing and caring for outdoor play surfaces and minor improvements including synthetic turf fields; Maintaining outdoor facilities including landscaping, snow removal and de-icing of sidewalks; Performing preventive and repair maintenance of building equipment, custodial equipment and grounds equipment; Performing general housekeeping tasks to include but not limited to dust mopping classroom and hallway floors, cleaning restrooms, vacuuming carpet and walk-off matting, stripping and sealing resilient and hard surface floors, washing windows, walls and lockers. Minimum Qualifications include: Education - High school graduate or equivalent. MN Specialist Boilers License upon hire. Must obtain First Class C Boilers License within two years of hire date. Ability to obtain a commercial drivers license within one year of employment. Ability to obtain a pesticide applicator license within one year of employment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include: Operating electrical and mechanical equipment, including but not limited to boilers, heating, ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning and other custodial and grounds equipment. Using computerized systems of control; diagnosing problems and program systems relating to heating, ventilating and air conditioning. Working under pressure with a wide variety of demands. Conducting minor repairs on motors (equipment, plugs, points, grease, change oil). Operating tractors, trucks, and related equipment such as loaders, grass seeders, snow plows, skid steers, etc. Helping, serving, taking instructions and working with minimum supervision. Ability to work cooperatively with the Principal, Athletic Director and Building Operations Supervisor. Providing excellent customer service and using problem solving techniques. Computer skills. Outlook, Word, Excel. HVAC automation system control operation. Heavy equipment operation. Preferred Qualifications include: Vocational training in heating, ventilating, air conditioning, electrical training and/or grounds and turf management is desirable. Salary: View salary grids on Pages 11 - 13, Section 1. of the Custodial Contract Agreement Work schedule: Mon Fri 9:00am - 530pm. Summer hours are 6:00am - 2:30pm. Hours and location may vary between PCHS and Grounds based on operational need. Job Type or FTE: Full-time, year round.
