Actalent Product Development Engineer in Maple Grove, Minnesota

Job Title: Product Development EngineerJob Description

We are looking for an engineer who can conduct development work as part of a major project. Under minimal supervision and guidance, you will perform analyses to develop design specifications and performance requirements. You will provide technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process engineering planning. You will select techniques to solve problems and make sound design recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Work with outside consultants, vendors, and the medical community.

  • Ensure that the quality system requirements are being met.

  • Support design reviews, board meetings, and physician visits.

  • Lead cross-functional teams in the development of new products.

  • Manage product development projects utilizing appropriate project management tools to meet deliverables for time, quality, performance, and cost.

  • Coordinate high-level project plans, manage risk, and drive project success.

  • Provide management and project sponsors with timely and accurate updates of project status and plans, including monthly reports, gate review records, and resource requirements.

  • Communicate effectively with teams and within management structure to facilitate workflow and resolve project barriers and problems.

  • Design, develop, and prototype new devices, components, and processes to meet customer needs, lower costs, and improve product quality.

  • Design and develop new test methods and equipment.

  • Perform, document, and report on investigations and testing.

  • Author protocols and procedures for the testing, qualification, and validation of products and processes.

  • Notify QA/QC of any observed or reported product quality issues so that appropriate action may be taken.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years experience in product development engineering.

  • Experience with the full product life-cycle.

  • Background in medical devices and ISO standards.

  • Proficiency in project/product management (internal/external), process development, design, SolidWorks, mechanical engineering, development, mechanical design, research & development, manufacturing engineering, R&D, vendor management, design review, and test methods.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to work with outside consultants, vendors, and the medical community.

  • Experience supporting design reviews, board meetings, and physician visits.

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in the development of new products.

  • Experience managing product development projects to meet deliverables for time, quality, performance, and cost.

  • Strong communication skills to facilitate workflow and resolve project barriers and problems.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52.00 - $72.00/hr.
