NY Employer Medical Receptionist in Manhattan, New York

The Medical Receptionist is responsible for direct patient contact, including initial greeting, patient appointment scheduling, registration, insurance verification, communicating data to provider & staff, sending referrals, re-calling patients for follow-up appointments. Competent in performing the following functions appropriate to the age of the patient, maintains a safe and clean care environment, quality improvement, assists in the training of the new students and volunteers. Actively and consistently contributes to department operations and communications, behaves in a manner consistent with the mission and objectives of organization and performs other duties as requested.

Responsibilities: Demonstrates the ability to provide and assure the carrying out the established medical receptionist procedures utilizing department protocols, and assuring the maintenance of a safe clean environment. Provides holistic, age appropriate communication demonstrating the ability to assess patient and situation needs. Ability to recognize and de-escalate disruptive behavior. Demonstrates ability to maintain a calm environment in the waiting room. Demonstrates thorough, concise and timely documentation, shift reports and verbal communications. Communicates pertinent patient information and unit information to medical providers, clinic staff, and other appropriate persons while maintaining client confidentiality. Assists in the coordination of services with medical staff, nursing staff, other departments as well as other providers. Responds rapidly and effectively during emergency situations. Completes internal and external referrals and scans documents into medical records. Completes annual competencies. Assists in the orientation of new personnel, volunteers, and students. Participates in community events to promote the mission of the health center. Assists in the collection of patient satisfaction surveys, collating the data for monthly reports. Assists in maintaining equipment. Prepares monthly patient appointment data reports. Receives medication delivery and assures distribution to resident floors daily. Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPPA guidelines/regulations. Perform other duties as assigned and needed.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Experience with EHR, ECW, ePaces, ETO preferred One year experience in a Medical/Surgical clinic environment preferred. Good verbal and written communication skills. Adaptable to changing work schedules

Salary: $19.23/hour

Location: Midtown Manhattan

Shift: Tuesday-Saturday (8:30am-4pm)
