FLSA Status: Hourly/Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

The Laborer is responsible for performing various tasks to aid daily operations at a construction site and may operate a variety of hand and power tools. Laborers will help prepare and clean up job sites and perform other duties as directed by the Foreman or Superintendent.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of a laborer are all geared toward maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient construction site while also supporting the overall project. The list of duties and responsibilities for a laborer on any given day may include the following:

  • Perform various physical duties as assigned

  • Maintain all safety standards

  • Moves, secures, installs, builds, loads, or unloads materials

  • Performs some specialized tasks which may require on-the job training.

  • Following instructions from supervisors and implementing construction plans.

  • Assisting skilled tradespeople in their duties.

  • Attentive to detail and alert at all times to ensure safety.

  • Maintain customer relations by acting in a professional, courteous manner.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Position Requirements and Experience:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma is an asset

  • Ability to safely operate various vehicles and equipment

  • Previous experience, especially in construction, preferred

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly lift objects up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders, reach, squat, push and pull objects.

  • Ability to use various hand tools throughout the day.

  • Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all temperatures and weather.
