SUMMARY:

The Operations Supervisor manages the daily activities of the Picking, Receiving, Material Handling, and Shipping departments and will rotate to either of these departments to cover absences. This role executes all production, quality, and KPI goals for their respective department. Charged with direct supervision and leadership of 10 to 25 hourly employees, this position is responsible for developing these employees through performance plans, stretch goals, and annual reviews while ensuring that all policies, safety, and housekeeping rules are followed. They will lead, coordinate and /or participate in safety, quality, delivery, cost, environment, and morale improvement initiatives and find innovative solutions to problems.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise all Operations hourly personnel in accordance with policies and procedures, including coaching and counseling of personnel, time and attendance, and training.

  • Communicate with other stakeholders and supervisors to ensure smooth transitions including but not limited to production changes, procedure updates, and transfers.

  • Mentor department staff and motivate Operations personnel to safely meet or exceed production throughput goals.

  • Meet and address safety requirements for all facility personnel, including authorization of equipment operation, and train/enforce EHS standards.

  • Responsible for driving inventory accuracy within assigned departments and throughout the Distribution Center.

  • Proactively review (observe & audit) practices to ensure correct and quality workmanship and process flow. Diagnose any potential areas needing improvement and identify and implement process improvements to increase productivity.

  • Responsible for achieving dashboard productivity & quality goals.

  • Occasionally interface with internal and external customers to resolve quality, inventory, and order accuracy issues.

  • Responsible for achieving continuous improvement in productivity and labor costs by setting expectations, providing feedback, establishing improved processes, and driving change.

  • Coordinate the movement of employees throughout the warehouse to achieve service and cost objectives.

  • Manage special projects, such as breakdowns, show teams, RTVs, store closures, and destruction.

  • Manage the clear communication flow of information including daily objectives, updates, and other pertinent information to employees on a continual basis, including start-up meetings and all employee meetings.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS (To include relevant work experience, competencies, and education requirements):

  • HS/GED required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years of people management experience required.

  • 2 years of experience working with a WMS or ERP system, SAP is a plus.

  • Must be flexible, organized, detail-oriented, and a change agent with the ability to multi-task.

  • Extremely strong team leadership and cross-functional communication skills.

  • Excellent analytical skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work with a high degree of reliability and autonomy.

  • Working knowledge of distribution procedures, processes, and systems.

  • Demonstrated leadership in people management through coaching, performance management, staff development, and training.

  • Proven experience building teams and fostering team communication and decision-making.

  • Strong presentation and communication skills, both individually and in group settings.
