Saint-Gobain Process Engineer II in MALVERN, Pennsylvania
CertainTeed is looking for driven, talented, and energetic researchers to join our current team in conducting hands-on laboratory experiments and production trails for key development programs. Projects will focus on process development activities related to CertainTeed SPG’s extensive product line impacting new product development and/or process optimization. As a Process Engineer, the candidate will research and develop new technologies to improve processes (and products) within our business. Phases of development include pilot, scale-up, and implementation of R&D processes and new products into manufacturing. The candidate will take project objectives and transform them in to actionable tasks including research of technologies, design and execution of experimentation, analysis of results, and generation of IP and technical reports.
This position will have a focus on research and development in all aspects of the group’s technical area and new product development and process enhancement, thereby building technical depth in multiple areas. Under the direction of the Group leader, the candidate will also design, run experiments, produce lab scale samples, operate pilot equipment, and analyze the experimental outcomes. In addition to designing experiments for the candidate’s primary projects, the candidate will be expected to conduct experiments to support projects led by others.
This will be done by:
Conducts research and development on process improvements related to the production of SPG’s product lines.
Proven ability to work in a production environment, building relationships and establishing support to drive projects forward.
Provides technical support and assistance for trials, commissioning and troubleshooting of new technology utilizing WCM tools and principles.
Utilizes sound technical knowledge of materials, processes, techniques, and products to improve on product performance to reduce costs, to maximize production, and to support new knowledge research.
Manages and documents projects effectively under minimal supervision by a technical leader.
Responsible for thorough documentation and communication of projects, trial reports, scientific developments, etc.
Prepares trial plans and leads manufacturing trials.
Responsible for developing and presenting project progress to all levels of the organization.
Demonstrates open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility.
Continuously evaluates workplace for safety concerns and ensures behavioral safety initiatives are performed to goal levels.
Seeks out others to enhance and streamline development and decision making.
Understands Gate Process methodology/ideology and utilizes and incorporates it in research projects.
Respectful communication and ability to collaborate in a team environment required.
Demonstrate ability to network within and out of group.
Demonstrate understanding of company policies and corporate structure.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with 3+ years of experience; Master’s Degree entry level in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering or other related disciplines.
3+ years of hands on experience with manufacturing process/equipment in an industrial or research setting.
Must possess a body of technical work commensurate with their years of experience including but not limited to: demonstration of familiarity with statistical tools, data analysis, and drawing conclusions based on a collection of basic data and interpretation.
Incumbent analyzes and reports results using statistical tools and analytical data of medium complexity.
Demonstrate good working knowledge in HSE.
Demonstrate understanding and adherence to company policies.
Develop understanding of corporate structure.
Experience with hot-press molding is a plus.
Experience with Gypsum manufacturing is a plus.
