Vanguard Investment Stewardship Senior Data Reporting Analyst in Malvern, Pennsylvania

Vanguard’s Investment Stewardship program (https://corporate.vanguard.com/content/corporatesite/us/en/corp/how-we-advocate/investment-stewardship/index.html) acts as a voice for our investors to promote strong corporate governance focused on long-term investment returns at the companies in which our funds invest. Our Investment Stewardship program is closely aligned with Vanguard’s core purpose “to take a stand for all investors, to treat them fairly, and to give them the best chance for investment success.” Our team supports this mission by engaging with executive leadership teams and boards of directors of the companies in which the Vanguard-advised funds invest, as well as voting at shareholder meetings to make sure that investors’ interests are always a priority.

The Senior Reporting Analyst will lead the development and maintenance of new and existing reports and data visualizations that drive business decisions. You will develop partnerships with key stakeholders to gain insight into the usability of reports and be responsive to their needs, ensuring they have a robust set of tools to make data-informed decisions.

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare both ongoing and ad-hoc reports of moderate to high complexity to support business goals and objectives. Acquire and compile structured and unstructured data and verify its quality, accuracy and reasonableness.

  • Engage with internal partners to understand business strategy, questions, and goals. Develop business acumen and be considered a subject matter expert for aligned business area. Anticipate reporting needs and remain actively aware of business decisions in aligned business area. Stay abreast of advancements in reporting technology and general trends in your aligned business area. Communicate results of reports to business partners when required.

  • Prepare and deliver visualizations and internal presentations. Train users on reporting tools.

  • Identify opportunities to standardize, scale, or automate complex report requests. Develop enhancements to reports and existing processes; assist with complicated changes escalated from lower levels. Design and write ad hoc reporting as needed. Validate analytical techniques employed by other specialists.

  • Review queries for performance issues, making changes as needed. Participate in the design and development of the system, as well as creation of user documentation.

  • Conduct initial exploratory or descriptive analytics using data generated from queries.

  • Develop, own, and manage recurring reporting processes.

  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

What it takes:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Minimum of five years related work experience.

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Experience with Python/SQL/Athena to query and transform data

  • Experience building dashboards and data visualizations using Tableau and Power Bi
