Summary of Role:

The overall objective of the EHS&S Safety and Emergency Response Team (ERT) Specialist is to promote a strong safety and emergency response culture by providing ERT expertise and ensuring that management systems are established and effectively used to maintain compliance. The ideal candidate will have the ability to adapt in a fast paced, changing environment, possess strong organizational skills with the ability to build professional relationships with numerous inter-dependent teams of different disciplines.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist with ERT training preparation and support/ logistics , including scheduling and tracking

  • Ability to perform flexible shift (Day/Night) coverage for Techs taking days/nights off;

  • Conduct inspections and inventory checks of rooms, equipment, AEDs (automated external defibrillator), fire extinguishers and vehicles

  • Ensure rooms are restocked with required equipment

  • Maintain equipment for confined space and technical rescue , fire brigade and EMS

  • Assist with tracking and trending of calls, meetings, member status, and equipment use

  • Work with vendors to order new supplies and equipment

  • Assist with respirator fit testing, cylinder refills and hydros, Level A suit inflation testing, and driver qualification process

  • Assist with call ERT (HAZMAT and Fire Brigade) response and support

  • Work with the site to drive and facilitate a strong safety culture

  • Work with teams on hazard identification, evaluation, control and provide appropriate risk mitigation strategies

  • Educate site personnel on ERT requirements and standards as needed

  • Respond to Permit to Work Request

  • Ability to acquire and maintain a thorough knowledge of site-specific hazards and response procedures

  • Module / Program support which includes incident investigation and general site questions.

  • Perform fit testing as needed

  • Must be clean shaven – facial hair cannot impede a respirator seal

  • Assist with Tool Install and all EHS&S functions as needed, not limited to health services, security, environmental and industrial hygiene tasks.

  • Manage and assist with the development and implementation of site specific safety procedures and programs as assigned

  • Work with site groups and management to help ensure timely and complete root cause investigations of all safety incidents, as well as timely and sustainable closure of all assigned corrective actions

  • Participate as a site Module EHS&S Representative

  • Educate site personnel on safety requirements and standards including conducting new hire and other ongoing safety training classes 

  • Provides coaching and professional development to all employees to maintain safety excellence at the facility

  • Review safety data and analyze for trends. Work with site personnel to develop actions plans based on the data

  • Participate and lead portions of EHS self-assessment and/or audits

  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to site population 

  • Assist with the preparation for, completion and coordination of site audits (VPP, Management Systems, IATF, RBA, etc.)

  • Assist with the site Industrial Hygiene Program including updating site Qualitative Exposure Assessments and other Monitoring Plans 

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs

  • Periodic regional travel may be required

    Required Qualifications:

  • High School education or equivalent

  • Emergency Medical Service licensure (EMT or EMT-A) in New York or if nationally certified (N-EMT), willing to get NY licensure certification.

  • 1-5 years of relevant experience within the emergency response profession.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Physical Capacity Demands: walking, repetitive motions, lifting and / or wearing equipment weighing up to 60 lbs.

  • Language Fluency – English (Written & Verbal)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point applications; able to use Google email, sheets, forms, docs, and slides.

  • Ability to wear Respiratory Protection and HAZMAT Response equipment for extended periods of time in adverse conditions.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Firefighter I Certification

  • CPR Certification

  • Hazmat Technician

  • Confined Space Rescue Experience

  • Manufacturing Operations Experience (3 Years)

  • Thorough working understanding of OSHA 1910 standards and regulations

  • Incident Investigation Skillset

  • Self-Motivated / Team oriented

  • Strong verbal, written and digital communication skills

  • Capable of performing multiple tasks at various levels of complexity

  • Demonstrated leadership skills / experience

Expected Salary Range

$39,500.00 - $70,000.00

The exact Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location.
